It's so fun to see James learn new things and see how much he can understand and communicate now. On the way home from church one Sunday I asked him what he learned in his nursery lesson. I had asked him before on other Sundays, but the usual answer was "Jesus." :) But this time he said:
"It was really windy! And there was a ghost!"
Hehe I thought that was so funny, and I couldn't figure what the lesson could have been about for him to pick that out. Then the next day for FHE, Michael taught a lesson from the nursery manual. As part of the lesson he told a story about a little boy who was scared because of a bad storm, and he prayed for the Holy Ghost to comfort him and make him feel better. Then I realized what James was talking about :)

February 2012
Some cute pics from February....
Reading with sunglasses :)
After a haircut
I can now no longer put toilet paper on the holder. Kaylyn discovered the joy of grabbing the end of the roll and running away with it. :)
Happy 1st Birthday Kaylyn!!!
Kaylyn turned one on January 11th! We celebrated the Saturday before by going to the California Academy of Sciences and then had a little party at home with some friends.
Kaylyn REALLY enjoyed it! Much better first experience with birthday cake than James :)
At Cal Academy
Kaylyn is wearing her "party pants" :)
After the presents
The Cake!
Kaylyn REALLY enjoyed it! Much better first experience with birthday cake than James :)
You can see a video compilation of clips from the party here.
(James really likes cake now though as you can tell by the "cake! cake! cake! caaaaaaaaakkkke!" in the background) :)
Christmas 2011
Ah...the infamous picture with Santa. Kaylyn doesn't really seem to care or know what's going on, but I don't know if James will ever be fine sitting on Santa's lap by himself :) We even got him all prepared earlier that day and while we were waiting forever in line. He was excited, and he was going to tell Santa he wanted a bicycle for Christmas. Then when it was our turn he started freaking out and screaming......maybe next Christmas he'll do better. :)

Opening presents! We were able to skype with my parents so they could see the kids open their presents.

Our Christmas tree after Santa came on Christmas Eve
James found the presents! James had actually been in the living room for about an hour before he realized there were presents from Santa under the tree. Michael's mom was visiting, so Michael and I were sleeping on an air mattress in the living room. When James woke up way early at like 6 am, I just put him on the couch with a show on the laptop while we went back to sleep :) It was still dark outside, so he couldn't really see the tree and didn't notice anything until Kaylyn woke up. His reaction was soo funny - he turned and saw his tricycle under the tree and said "Whoa! Whoa what's that?!" and ran over there. :)Opening presents! We were able to skype with my parents so they could see the kids open their presents.
James was so excited to set up his new train track! :)
....and then along came Kaylyn :)
