How James decorates the Christmas tree....

When we first set up the Christmas tree, it only had lights and no ornaments for a few days. Well, I guess James decided if we weren't going to decorate the tree he was going to do it himself. One day I got out of the shower and found this...
If you can't tell, those are mostly bristle blocks, and then there's a clothes pin and a piece of sidewalk chalk in there, too. :) James had discovered if he threw small objects at the tree, they would usually stick on one of the branches. (Bristles blocks worked especially well.) hehe Silly little boy :)

We had to do some sleep training for Kaylyn, and she was sleeping in our room at the time, so Michael and I slept on an air mattress in the living room for a little while. The kids had lots of fun playing on it though :)

James decided the air mattress was his personal trampoline :)

One day I was feeding Kaylyn carrots for lunch, when James started calling from his bedroom. I left to go help him, and then when I came back I found out that I had left the bowl of carrots too close to Kaylyn....

For Thanksgiving we went up to Seattle for a week to visit Michael's mom and his sister and her family. It was a great trip! We had lots of fun, and James and Kaylyn enjoyed playing with their cousins. We wish we lived closer to them, so we could see them more often.

While we were there, we got some family pictures taken. Here are a few. I LOVE the one of James by himself. The photographer didn't even ask him to sit and pose like he did. James just went over and sat on a random bench, and he looked so cute we just had to get pics. :)

Halloween 2011

James helped us clean out our pumpkins, and then painted his own pumpkin.

Costumes!! This year was Kaylyn's first Halloween. I wanted to coordinate their costumes, and James was really into Blues Clues, so James was Steve and Kaylyn was Blue. And boy were they cute! :)

A couple days before Halloween our ward had a little Halloween Carnival/Trunk-or-Treat. (Well, I guess it wasn't exactly a trunk-or-treat this year. Instead of trick-or-treating from trunk to trunk of cars in the parking lot, we went from classroom to classroom.) Before the trick-or-treating, there were little carnival games and activities for the kids. James had fun doing some of the games. He tried the bean bag toss again this year, but he still didn't quite understand the concept behind throwing the bean bags, and would just walk over and place the bean bags through the holes like last year. :)
We were debating about whether to go actual trick-or-treating or not because we weren't sure how well James would do and if his attention span would last very long. But we decided to go ahead and go, and we're glad we did. We had fun, and James actually did pretty well. We wanted to keep it simple since it was his first time, so we just circled the block, which ended up being only about 10-15 houses. We usually had to remind him to say "trick-or-treat," and he was freaked out by anyone who answered the door in costume, but otherwise he did well and seemed to enjoy it. :) He said he was ready to go home at the next to last house, so it all worked out pretty nicely, and he got a decent bit of candy.


Back at home Kaylyn was much more interested in the candy than James. :) And as you can see through this series of pics, she had a one track mind. hehe
